In a turn of events that has left Democrats panicking, Republican Senate candidate Gen. Don Bolduc not only caught up to Democrat, Maggie Hassan, last week, but has since widened his lead according to a new Trafalgar Group poll released Thursday.
According to the poll, Gen. Bolduc has 47 percent support while only 45.7 percent back Hassan with Libertarian candidate Jeremy Kauffman taking 4 percent and 3.2 percent of potential voters remaining undecided.
Gen Bolduc's lead began to widen prior to Wednesday night's debate, during which Hassan seemed out of touch with many of the topics the moderator offered questions about. Gen. Bolduc was quick to note that Hassan is in no position to resolve inflation issues when her husband "gasps" at the price of eggs in the grocery store, instead of her. It was also pointed out by Gen. Bolduc that while Hassan owns 4 homes, her constituents can't afford to rent, much less own property.
In the recent poll, which was conducted from October 30 through November 1, Gen. Bolduc had support from 70.2 percent of Hispanic voters and has a 19.9-point lead over Hassan with black voters. Gen. Bolduc is also ahead of Hassan in every age demographic except for those 65 and older.
While the New Hampshire Senate race was never expected to be close, Gen. Bolduc made an astonishing 12-point gain over six weeks to take a one-point lead over Hassan last week before pulling further ahead and expanding the gap between him and Hassan this week. With 4 days to go until the midterms, Democrats are scrambling to stem the red wave that has washed over the country in recent weeks.
