The Biden administration's open border policy has allowed more than 5 million illegal migrants to cross into the US since Joe Biden took office in January 2021. Those migrants have now brought the border city of Yuma, Arizona, to the "brink of collapse" as they flood the city and overload food banks and hospitals.

Due to the continuously mounting humanitarian crisis at the southern border, Yuma County's Border Patrol has seen a 171% rise in the number of illegal border crossings. Unless officials can figure out a way to deal with the massive influx of migrants, Yuma County will 'crumble,' according to County Supervisor Jonathan Lines.

According to a statement to Fox News, Lines argued that "Policies need to be changed when you see an unprecedented amount of people coming across the border that even supersedes what we saw under any of the other presidents for the past 30 years."

Line added that the influx of illegal crossings is "ridiculous." According to Line, "They're coming because they said that Biden told them to come, that we have an open border."

Hank Auza, a fifth-generation farmer and resident of Yuma, said, "The problem that we're foreseeing right now is there's a couple of big waves coming."

"Yuma can't support that. It will overwhelm the system here," Auza added.

While Yuma struggles to keep its head above water amid the flood of migrants, the border town of El Paso, Texas has had to declare a state of emergency as migrants camped in the streets there amid below-freezing temperatures in December. Migrant shelters were at capacity, forcing the city to use the local airport as a temporary shelter.

Another Yuma farmer, Alex Muller, also expressed concerns about food security given that farming is a large component of Yuma's economy. "Our fields are monitored and audited and tested for different pathogens. You can't have people walking through the field," Muller said regarding his concerns.

According to Auza, Yuma's farms, which produce 93% of the country's leafy greens during the winter, have seen plenty of migrant traffic, which can cause damage to the crops due to foodborne illnesses. Meanwhile, residents are also having a difficult time getting seen at the local hospital.

"People have had a hard time getting into the hospital because the hospital has been so full of migrants," Auza added.

Despite Vice President Kamala Harris being appointed 'Border Czar' to deal with the crisis and Biden's first visit to the border coming 2 years into his presidency, and 2 years too late according to Texas Governor Greg Abbott - the Biden administration has done nothing to not only stop migrants from crossing the border but to assist border cities with the crisis the administration has caused.

Meanwhile, Governor Abbott has taken to bussing migrants to Democratic-run 'sanctuary' cities across the country in an effort to lessen the strain placed on border towns and the burden on taxpayers in Texas.
