It is not enough anymore to just be in business as a doctor in America, especially in California where Governor Gavin Newsom has proven he is the “over-reach” governor by giving medical boards the full throttle to go after doctors who write medical exemptions.
Newsom’s latest target is Walgreens.
Gov. Gavin Newsom announced in early March that California would not renew a $54 million contract with Walgreens.
Walgreens has announced it would not sell abortion pills in 21 states as 20 state attorneys generals gave a warning in a sharply worded letter that mailing abortion drugs could violate federal and state laws.
Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach sent a separate letter to Walgreens.
Alternatively, Walgreens has agreed to distribute and sell abortion pills in California and 28 other states.
But that’s not good enough for Newsom.
Newsom tweeted earlier this week: “California won’t be doing business with @walgreens—or any company that cowers to the extremists and puts women’s lives at risk. We’re done.”
In 2016, California passed a law banning government-funded travel to states with laws deemed discriminatory toward “gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.”
California banned government-funded travel to four states. Now it has banned such travel to 22 states.
In 2022, California became a “sanctuary” state for minors seeking medical treatment for gender transition and stripping parental custody if their child travels to California for these irreversible treatments.
Newsom is on the short list of those campaigning for Joe Biden during the 2024 presidential cycle.
