The Associated Press projected liberal Judge Janet Protasiewicz as the winner on the Wisconsin Supreme Court with 57% of the vote as compared to conservative Daniel Kelly's 43% with 61% of the vote reporting.

The Wisconsin race stemmed from the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Patience Roggensack.

Roggensack is regarded as part of the court's current 4-3 conservative majority.

Protaseiwciz's win could have significant changes in Wisconsin after the U.S. Supreme Court's Dobbs v. Jackson abortion decision last year.

Kelly previously served as a state Supreme Court justice after then-Governor Scott Walker (R) appointed him in 2016, after which he lost re-election.

Protasiewicz has served as a justice for the Milwaukee County Circuit Court since 2014. She was  known to be soft on crime as an Assistant District Attorney in Milwaukee.

Abortion was one of the hot topics in this race, according to the mainstream press.

There were reports of election irregularities.
