President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump won their respective primaries in Michigan Tuesday inching towards a November face-off.

On the republican side, Nikki Haley has once again failed to deliver the momentum needed to justify her campaign continuing. Money and momentum matter the longer a presidential candidate stays in the race. Haley is running out of both as an underdog with more than a third of the republican party’s delegates at stake on Super Tuesday March 5.  Her margins are shrinking following the Michigan results.

Only 16 of Michigan's 55 Republican delegates have been allocated as a result of the Michigan primary. The remaining will be allocated at the March 2 republican convention. Trump is expected to win those remaining 39 delegates because of his grassroot game on the ground.

On the democratic side, progressives in Michigan led by Palestinian Americans and young voters in protest of Biden’s foreign policy position on the Israeli Hamas war urged Michigan democrats to vote “uncommitted.” More than 100,000 voted “uncommitted” on the democratic presidential ballot. All eyes are on whether that movement is copied in the March 5 contests.

Meanwhile Democratic Congressman Dean Phillips, who is challenging President Biden in the primaries, is slowing turning into Casper the Ghost because he has not gained any traction.

Here is the calendar for important political contests in the next week:
