In 1722, at the age of 16, Ben Franklin was working as an apprentice to his older brother, James, a Boston printer. Young Ben Franklin never got anything he wrote published, so he wrote 14 letters under the assumed name of a woman, Silence Dogood. He secretly slipped each letter under the door of the print shop of the New England Courant in the cloak of darkness. James decided the letters were definitely suitable for publication. For us today, the letters give a good insight into the time and the man who wrote them.
The letters poked fun at various aspects of life in colonial America, such as the drunkenness of locals, religious hypocrisy, and the persecution of women. Silence Dogood even had views about the fashion for hoop petticoats. “She” was particularly fond of ridiculing Harvard. She complained that it had been ruined by corruption and elitism, and that most of its students learned nothing there except how to be conceited.

To myriad authors of the Irrelevant News Media,
After a quietude of 300 years, and being much distraught by today’s abysmal state of the hard-won, free Republic that our Heaven-Blessed Founders gave to you Americans, I have returned to discourse on various subjects. Difficult though I find the conversion, I am quickly adapting to the blunt, admittedly unflattering style of writing and crude political discourse of the year of our Lord, 2022. This old woman does learn quickly, though, so please bear with her.
Modern Presstitutes
…Congress may not make any law that diminishes the freedom of speech, or the freedom of the press… — U.S. Constitution, Amendment 1
Despite the blood of patriots being spilled through the ages to ensure a free press, you who claim to be “newsmen” (and women, of course) have squandered the priceless currency of credibility. You perverted the First Amendment by selling your souls to ideology, instead of truthfulness; to activism, vice accuracy, and to expedient lies, versus honesty. Today, MEAN-stream news media personnel have a trustworthy rating well below that of politicians, lawyers and used car sales-persons. (See, she’s learning PC lingo.)
You so-called journalists are not entirely to blame for sacrificing personal integrity on the altar of “social justice”, an undefinable wraith of good-sounding hogwash that now poisons and imprisons minds throughout this once-land-of-the-free. You were indoctrinated from an early age by sophisticated professors and educators, who force-fed you falsehoods of repackaged and camouflaged Socialism-Marxism-Communism. To get through the wickets of indoctrination to graduate and obtain a degree, you initially swallowed, then dutifully regurgitated, what academicians crammed down your throats under duress.
Never did those scholarly purveyors of mind-pollution balance their propaganda with one indisputable fact and absolute truth: Socialism, Marxism and Communism have a perfect record of abject failure. If you courageously raised that truism in class or serious discussions with less-inquisitive peers, you were belittled, attacked and browbeaten into silence. A prof probably spewed an asinine platitude along the lines of: “It just hasn’t been implemented correctly! This time, in America, we’ll get it right!” And Utopia will instantly manifest throughout the nation, graced by unicorns and rainbows.
Awaken, “journalists”! You have been methodically brainwashed and are contributing to your country’s disintegration every workday of your pathetic careers! And to what end? Do you really believe you will be rewarded by going along to get along for a mere paycheck? To eventually be honored and appreciated for straight-faced lying on-screen, in-print and via social media? Better yet: How will you know when “social justice” and “equity” have been achieved and you can declare victory over those horrible, guilt-ridden oppressors you’ve targeted for decades?
If you actually believe the nonsense you’ve been fed—and now disseminate as news and entertainment—exactly how will you define “success” and “reward” for your oh-so-sincere activism? Receipt of wealth, admiration and fame? Maybe given an on-screen TV anchor position? Being named a powerful producer or director? Or possibly a coveted editor-in-chief or publisher slot at a big-name publication? Or merely a more-fair society?
How naive. Better go back and dive into real-world history, boys, girls…and whatever you “identify as” this month. Without exception, every time a society embraces Socialism, Marxism or Communism, its intellectuals, religious leaders and journalists are the first to be systematically purged. Loyal believers, rabid news reporters and charismatic thought leaders in the pre-takeover society—those individuals who fervently supported “The Revolution”—are always rewarded with a bullet to the head. Never fails.
So, what makes you seasoned reporters think shadowy, Davos-elite marionettes pulling the strings on Washington’s bipartisan Willing Accomplices and their Deep State lapdogs are going to care a whit about you, when their Great Reset brings America to its knees and freedom is crushed? They won’t.
Ironically, Davos elites consider each of those high-profile Washington swamp rats expendable, as well.
Your Servant,
Silence Dogwood

Another case of contemporary elitist "journalism" just surfaced. Has NBC suddenly developed a journalistic conscience? Or maybe in-the-cellar ratings have inspired the legacy media to TRY cleaning up its act. A little late to the game, aren't you NBC?
