As we described yesterday, British Prime Minister Theresa May has garnered an extension to the Brexit day of March 29th in order to attempt to pass her flawed deal with the European Union to leave the bloc. This is a betrayal of the will of the British people; many believe May has no intention of leaving at all, or to leave with Britain as a vassal to the EU.
Conservative leader Nigel Farage, the grandfather of Brexit, is having none of it. He declared today he will stand for election as the leader of the Brexit party and push through the results of the Brexit referendum that May has betrayed.
“We will put out a candidates’ list of people from right across the political spectrum — left, centre, and right, and we’ll do it on trust," Farage declared.
“Our trust has been betrayed by politicians and if we fight those elections, it’s a chance to say what we think.”
“We were told we were leaving on March 29th, 500 MPs voted for us to leave on March 29, 100 times the Prime Minister told us it would happen! I think there is going to be a very strong sense from millions of people that this is a total failure of leadership,” added Farage.
“Article 50 was clear that 500 MPs voted for. We leave on March 29th with or without a deal...There’s a big clear majority of people who want to leave with no deal without any kind of extension at all.”
