Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said this morning that negotiations for the language in the COVID -19 relief package for the American worker are 'on the five yard line' and the 'clock has run out'.

McConnell continues with the sports metaphors: “The clock has run out. The buzzer is sounding.” Says Democrats need to take yes for an answer.

For her part, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi declared this morning on CNBC that she believed something could get done within a few hours.

Markets have moved higher on expectation the deal will close.

The breakthrough is reported to be the GOP agreeing to stricter oversight of the proposed $500B business recovery fund; it is doubtful McConnell and The White House will agree to the laundry list of socialist proposals included in the House version of the bill released yesterday.

Economic data released today is completely irrelevant due to the coming impact of the coronavirus slowdown.
