Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has found himself under investigation for his continued use of private jets.
According to a previous report published by Fox News, Buttigieg has taken at least 18 flights on private jets paid for by U.S. tax dollars, while everyday Americans are forced to stand in line for hours and spend nights in airports due to the Transportation Secretary's inability to do his job.
Meanwhile, as Buttigieg jet sets around on private planes, he has the audacity to lecture Americans about the sacrifices they should be making for the sake of climate change.
"Everyday Americans face flight [cancellations] and long wait times because Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has completely mismanaged air travel," said Caitlin Sutherland, executive director of Americans for Public Trust (ATP). "Yet he gets to avoid all that by taking taxpayer-funded private jets to destinations with readily available commercial airline options," she added.
"And for someone so holier-than-thou on reducing emissions, Buttigieg sure doesn't seem to mind the pollution caused by his jet-setting. This is hypocrisy at its finest, and these troubling expenses to taxpayers must come under immediate scrutiny," Sutherland concluded.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) Inspector General has opened an investigation and is conducting an audit regarding Buttigieg's extensive use o private jets.
"Ater Americans for Public Trust helped determine Secretary Buttigieg's excessive use of taxpayer-funded government jets, we are pleased to see that his air travel is now under investigation," Sutherland continued.
"Everyday Americans have faced unprecedented flight cancellations and disruptions, but Buttigieg has continued to fly private, even on a Coast Guard plane and even when commercial options were readily available," Sutherland added.
It should also be noted that not only is Buttigieg's behavior hypocritical, but he is also incompetent at his job. The Secretary of Transportation did not visit the site of the toxic train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, until the day after former President Donald Trump visited residents in the blue-collar town.
Buttigieg has also done nothing to investigate or resolve a slew of problems that have recently plagued the commercial airline industry ranging from an FAA computer meltdown that stranded passengers for days to Southwest Airlines' lack of employees and software glitches that caused thousands of delays and cancellations.
