Supreme Court Denies Case Against Border Wall

In the ongoing battle for President Trump’s border wall, the Supreme Court has decided to not take up a case that would strike down one of Trump’s signature campaign promises.

The appeal case is trying to stop construction of 145 miles of wall that pass along Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas’ border with Mexico.  The case was filed by The Center for Biological Diversity, Defenders of Wildlife, and other environmental groups who argue the Department of Homeland Security violated environmental restrictions.

The president’s border wall has been persistently attacked by the lower courts.  Opposition to the wall are finding every avenue possible to stop the construction, but so far, no meaningful decision against it has come to fruition.  Most recently, three suits have been filed against the Pentagon’s reallocation of $3.8 billion towards the wall.  A 9th U.S. Circuit of Appeals voted 2-1 that the use of Pentagon funds for the border wall was unconstitutional, because only Congress has the power to transfer funds.  This case is expected to head to the Supreme Court, as the fight over the wall continues.

Last week, President Trump made his first trip of 2020 to part of the border wall in Arizona, claiming victory that a little over 200 miles have been completed, and promised his supporters that the remaining 450 miles will be finished by the end of 2020.
