Westport, CT School Superintendent Tom Scarice took his current position in April of 2020 among a cascade of platitudes from the Westport Board of Education.
For the last 8 years, Scarice has served as superintendent in Madison — an affluent and high-achieving New Haven suburb, reported 06880danwoog.com.
He was hailed as “a great communicator,” “intelligent,” “driven,” “innovative,” “a strategic thinker,” “warm” and “engaging.”
Interim superintendent David Abbey — who also was warmly praised for his leadership over the past year — called him a “thought leader.” In fact, Abbey said, “I follow him on Twitter."
What Westport didn't hear at the time was about the record of controversy and mismanagement during Scarice's tenure in Madison, which caused the district's school rankings to plummet from 4th to 41st in the state.
The frustration bubbled over at a Madison, CT Board of Education meeting in March of that year.
"Superintendent Scarice's delays in implementing remote learning is a disappointment. I believe this is an administrative issue, a leadership issue.
"We've heard from Superintendent Scarice that we should not measure success by who is the first to adopt remote learning.
“As a parent, and as a board member, I’m tired of Madison education coming in last, and I believe this is another in a series of educational errors made by this administration,” declared Greg DeSantis, a Madison parent and the executive director of the Student Success Center and Academic Initiatives for the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU). One wonders if Scarice was chosen by the Westport School Board for his Marxist politics, or his actual performance in Madison, CT schools.
Westport BOE is following a coordinated national agenda which has manifested itself infamously in Loudoun County, VA among others. The injection of CRT, SEL, DEI culturally Marxist indoctrination will de-emphasize academic achievement in favor of 'equal outcomes'. This is the whole point of the 'Equity Study' now making its way through the implementation process in Westport. Westport's BOE collaborated with radical Leftist NYU to conduct the 'study'.
As these changes are implemented in the Westport School District, Westport's education rankings will fall, property values will follow.
"We're just trying to make students happy," said one supporter of the SEL implementation at the recent Westport School Board meeting.
The question is -- is making students 'happy' the goal of the school system or teaching them to think critically, or read and write?

The Westport school system has been run by communist crazies, implementing experimental, and always failed, curriculums since at least 1967. Westport needs to implement a school board employment requirement of mandatory, fuctioning, cause and effect genes!
