The RNC requested a 3-hour extension of voting hours in Maricopa County, Arizona Tuesday night after problems with vote tabulator machines caused unusually long lines. At an emergency hearing Tuesday evening the county and Kelly campaign argued that the request shouldn't be granted as the voting centers had been open and operational all day.
The judge sided with the county and Kelly campaign and denied the RNC's request for an extension of hours, forcing the voting centers to close on time and denying many voters the opportunity to cast their ballot.
The tabulator problems occurred at 20% of voting locations and caused extensive lines and long wait times. Maricopa County now expects to have 99 percent of its ballots counted by Friday - so much for timely elections.
