• Impeachment: The Democrat Pathology

    Article 2, Paragraph 4, U.S. Constitution:

         “The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors”.

    The Founders did not take this lightly. There would need to be a smoking gun and clear substantial violation of the Office of the President by its occupant. That is why only 2 presidents have ever been impeached, Andrew Johnson and William Jefferson Clinton. Richard Nixon would no doubt have been impeached but for his resignation in August, 1974.

    So why is Donald Trump under the impeachment microscope? Inevitably it is because the Democrat radical left never accepted his success in the 2016 election. They could not swallow this bitter pill, and in fact, without any legitimate basis for the statement, Congresswoman Maxine Waters called for his resignation from the time Donald Trump took office.

    You see, their agenda of open borders for anyone to enter this country, Medicare for all, elimination of fossil fuels, drastic taxes on corporations and the wealthy, supporting the resurgence of unions and other issues were stymied by President Trump winning the election.

    So, the radical left has demanded his removal from office on any grounds conjured up to do so. This places the Democrat majority in the House in a no-win position. They either insult their left-wing base and do not impeach, or impeach and lose in 2020.

    The legal issues are interesting. The Congress has full authority to decide what “High Crimes and Misdemeanors” are. It does not have to be a crime in statutory or common law form. President Andrew Johnson was impeached because he tried to carry out reconciliation between the North and South, the policy that Abraham Lincoln intended to follow. Those who thought he was moving to quickly (primarily Democrats ironically) attempted to remove him from office.

     Majority of the members of the House voted to impeach him and the Senate missed by one vote of convicting him. Impeachment requires a majority of the House members and conviction requires 2/3 of the Senate members to convict.

    What has Donald Trump done? Did he obstruct the Mueller investigation? According to Mueller himself, no. Mueller specifically said that his investigation was completed to its entirety without limitation by outside interference. Did he conspire with the Russians?  Again, according to Mueller, no.

    Now, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, Jerry Nadler, embodies the ultimate pathology of the Democrats. He intends to impeach President Trump on any grounds he can find.

    They are trying to use the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, alleging the President is benefitting financially from his presidency by parties who stay at his hotels and do business with or are dealing in some way with the U.S. government.

    Now they are like a dog with a bone due to a conversation the President had with the President of Ukraine. There should be concern by all of us that Vice-President Joe Biden is on tape admitting that he threatened Ukraine with denial of one billion dollars in aid unless they fired the prosecutor who was investigating his son and his connection to alleged corruption in business dealings.

    That would be a crime for a public official to use his office to deny funds appropriated as aid to a foreign country in exchange for a favor for a family member to avoid prosecution.

    The magnificence of this situation is that the Democrats are in a vice. They do not know which way to turn. They saw what happened after Bill Clinton was officially impeached; the Republicans lost big-time in the next congressional off-year election.

    Nancy Pelosi realizes this and wants to avoid impeachment altogether. The problems with this position just came public through the radical and politically illiterate member of Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She now said in a tweet that the Democrat scandal of avoiding impeachment is a bigger issue than any acts committed by the President that might be impeachable.

    No impeachment loses the Left. An impeachment loses Independents and perhaps moderate democrats.

    So, the Republicans are delighted with this quagmire facing their opposition party.

    Meanwhile, the President is accomplishing more in his short time in office than any president in any of our lifetimes. African-American unemployment is at its lowest level since those records have been kept. The same is true for Hispanics, women, and Asians.

    When we are not at war, and this President has kept us free of any new such encounters, the economy and pocket-book issues drive voters.

    Watch a substantial increase for this President in 2020 votes from these groups.

    Who in their right mind would want:

    All college debt eliminated;

    Reparations to African-Americans for what happened in slavery over 150 years ago (especially since we have spent trillions since 1965 on poverty and minority programs);

    Medicare for all (Warren will not even admit that it will raise middle-class taxes, which it will);

    Free College Tuition for all;

    Elimination of cows, airplanes, redo of all buildings in America to alleged environmental standards, elimination of fossil fuels and major tax increases on the wealthy and corporations (they do not get the reality that the bursting economy and stock market record-setting results from de-regulation and tax cuts to business).

    And, there is much more the Left wants to do to destroy American initiative, enterprise and entrepreneurship.

    On the other hand, the President has made us energy-independent, rebuilt our military, offered medical options to our beloved veterans, recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and recognized the Golan Heights as part of Israel, building the wall at the southern border to protect America, and has NATO countries paying more than 100 billion dollars additionally for their own security since he took office.

    So, who are you voting for in 2020, impeachment or not?

    The Democrat party is the boy that cried wolf. Reading that fable should be mandatory for them.

    It would need to be read to them at the Drag Queen Story Hour...

    I find it so amusing that there are so many dumb, ignorant, or naive people who live in this country. The people who comment in here are devoid of any factual coherent arguments about anything. They only want to peddle their drivel to any other useful idiot they can find. If you believe that air and water quality don't matter to our long term health then by all means vote for Republicans because that you will get your wish. The only reason we have clean air and water now is because we once had Republicans and Democrats who cared about environmental protections to ensure a livable world for future generations. It is clearly about being selfish and greed. Any so called Christian or Evangelical who supports this president have sold their soul to the devil himself. You worship this president and you think you have a right to dictate what rights people have according to your ideology. In your view you are the only one who is right. How delusional can you possibly be?
