I believe you may be incorrect, in 2005 a Chinese General stated Taiwan was just a distraction and that the U.S. was the real target as the land mass in Taiwan would do nothing for China, they need the U.S. land mass for their people to survive. He believed it was not a kind thing to kill hundreds of thousands of Americans, but it was better than China's and it's peoples destruction. He even insinuates using biological weapons as it would leave the infrastructure intact.

Red China and the US Deep-State negotiated a Quid Pro Quo wherein the Red Chinese would release the Covid virus in China, knowing it would infect the world but that the US would be the actual target.
